The Old Shippon is a superb converted barn set down a private country lane on a working farm near Narberth in south Pembrokeshire. Surrounded by rolling countryside, the farm is conveniently located within half an hour of Tenby and Saundersfoot, less than 20 minutes from Amroth beach and only 5 minutes from Narberth’s unique selection of delicatessens, independent shops, boutiques and places to eat.
South Pembrokeshire offers endless opportunities for walking, sightseeing and exploring the gorgeous coastal scenery. Visit the castles of Carew, Picton and Pembroke; walk the renowned Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, the Knights’ Way pilgrims’ route or the historical Miners Walk; stroll through the National Trust’s Colby Woodland Gardens to Amroth beach; wander the walled medieval town of Tenby and take the boat to visit the monastery on Caldey Island.
There are numerous family attractions within easy reach including Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and Heatherton Activity Centre.
Pembrokeshire is renowned for its golden beaches and watersports: try kayaking, surfing or coasteering. Closer to home, guests are invited to enjoy walking our farmland (over 50 acres), meeting our animals and sitting peacefully on the banks of our lake.
This sympathetic barn conversion was completed in August 2012 to a very high standard using green oak to retain its character. The ground floor accommodation is wheelchair accessible while upstairs, the twin bedroom and separate lounge make the property ideal for a family with teenagers or for two couples.
The Old Shippon sleeps 4 plus an infant in 2 bedrooms: one double and one twin.
The double bedroom downstairs (wheelchair friendly) has an oak super king size bed and matching bedside tables. It has an en suite wet room with shower, wash basin and toilet all of which are wheelchair friendly.
The twin bedroom is on the first floor with matching oak single beds and bedside tables. It has an en suite bathroom with a luxury shower enclosure, wash basin and toilet all decorated to the highest standard.
The ground floor open plan kitchen/sitting area has a well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave and hob plus an oak dining table and matching chairs. There is a sofa and TV in this open plan area.
The oak staircase leads to an open lounge area with oak beams and banister rails, sofa, armchair and TV/DVD.
A stable door leads from kitchen/dining area to the outside area which is laid with gravel and provided with garden furniture. There is an enclosed children’s play area with swing slide and a tree house (all used at your own risk).
